Attorney Kim is known to be the first lawyer among the visually impaired in South Korea. As Clinical Associate Professor and attorney at the Public Interest and Legal Clinic Center, he, whose visual impairment was acquired, not innate, has strived to reduce the discrimination and injustice that the physically challenged experience in their daily lives by monitoring the lives of others more earnestly or desperately than anyone else.

A Quantum Leap toward Everyone’s Exercises

Yongho Lee, Professor at the Department of Physical Education

Exercise is a critical factor in daily life affecting quality of life. However, the reality is that workout space for those with disabilities is insufficient. Professor Lee opened an “Inclugym” (a coined term combining inclusion and gymnasium), a fitness facility for the physically challenged at one corner of the Gwanak Campus Gymnasium, accelerating to prepare the shortcut for encouraging everyone to participate in exercises.

For Life without Borders between Disability and Non-Disability

Solive Ventures, Student-led Startup Team

At the end of last year, there was welcome news at SNU. The news was that Solive Ventures, an SNU student-led startup team, received an Innovation Award in the Digital Health and Accessibility categories at CES 2024. Solive Ventures assists children with developmental disability in their growth and development through playful educational aids and supports their lives with non-disabled people. We met them in person to hear their stories.

Ordinary Campus Life via Collaborative Work

Ms. Jeon, a stenographer moving around campus to support the education of students with disabilities, experiences the site of “diversity” in her daily life. Some people may draw a dichotomous distinction between disabled and non-disabled people. However, others toward Ms. Jeon are neighbors she lives with, former colleagues she grows with, and teachers who lift her up.

“Bridge” Connecting Our Society - Performance Sharing Session of SNU Student Society for Social Responsibility

Last January, the Student Society for Social Responsibility under the SNUSR held an event to share the activity performances from the preceding semester. The SNUSR is a platform responsible for social contribution on campus, which has been creating a global community based on social responsibility and expertise since its establishment in February 2013, focusing on the social values of inclusion and coexistence.
